True Inner Peace

The Graf Stress Management technique was founded by Jan M. Graf. With over 25 years of experience, Jan has observed that true health, happiness, and well-being come when you are at total peace with yourself in all aspects of your life, both past and present.

Being at peace comes from living up to our value standards, repenting when necessary, and forgiving.

Value Standards

1We all have value standards pertaining to every aspect of our life. They range from minor things such as how we tie a tie, or how we fold a towel, to major values such as honesty, integrity, and morality. As we live up to our value standards, we are at peace with ourselves, but if we don’t live up to our value standards, we begin to feel guilt and may even begin to punish ourselves physically.

Repentance

2When we are living up to our value standards we are at peace. None of us are perfect, so we find ourselves betraying ourselves by choosing to do things below our value standard. The way to relieve this guilt is through repentance. Repentance is a valuable tool in the process of peace.

Forgiveness

3Throughout our life, we’ll encounter people who offend us. When we forgive, we are not saying that what they did is correct. We are allowing them to be less than perfect. Forgiveness is for us. We also need to forgive ourselves when we live below our value standards as part of the repentance process.
